Heart Of Stone ~ DeVonne Reed

HEART OF STONE

My husband found an amazing stone, in our driveway, yesterday.
He has quite a collection, of stones and fossils, already.  But this is one is very unique and very special.

Anyone who knows me, knows that, I am a curious person.
I picked up the stone and held it in my hand. I turned it in every direction, inspecting it carefully.
Studying the stone a little more, I wondered, what could have formed this perfect, heart into this piece of stone? There is no telling how long it had been lying there in the driveway. It was continually being ran over on a daily basis. Many different sets of tires pushing it down further leaving their marks on it. Continually grinding it under rocks, grains of sand and dirt, that cut deeply into it. Until it was twisted, turned and cut, repeatedly, to form this perfect, and beautiful
"Heart of Stone"

So it is in life. Hearts get trampled on, broken and sometimes crushed.
But the heart is repairable.

Of course,  by now,  my thoughts are running around in circles,  in my mind.

Immediately,  my first thought, I was taken back to a clip from the movie, The Wizard of Oz.
In the movie there is a scene, where Dorothy, and her friends go to the Wizard, and he is going to grant each one of them their hearts desire.

Remember, the Tin-man?  He wanted a heart.

Here is the excerpt of their dialogue.

The Wizard:
"As for you my galvanized friend, you want a heart, you don't know how lucky you are, not to have one. Hearts will never be practical, until they can be made unbreakable."

The Tin man:
"But, I still want one."

The Wizard:
"Back where I come from, there are men who do nothing all day but good deeds, they are called,  good deed doers and their hearts are no bigger than yours. But, they have one thing you haven't got, a testimonial. Therefore in consideration of your kindness. I take pleasure at this time in presenting you  with a small token of our esteem and affection, and remember my sentimental friend, that a heart is not judged by how
much you love, but by how much you are loved by others."

One line of lyrics from the song, Tin Man performed by America.
" NO, Oz never did give nothing to the Tin-man, that he didn't already have. "

My second thought was a great question. How often can a heart be broken? The answer: over and over! Speaking from my own experience, my heart has been broken repeatedly. At times these hurtful episodes have cause me to harden my heart, to become calloused and non-responsive, never wanting to trust anyone, ever again! I feared being broken again. Therefore, refusing to be hurt, I shut and the locked the door of my heart.
You see,  I hold the only key.

In my times of brokenness, it hurt me so much, at times, that I felt as if, I would be better off dead. Being crushed in the very seat of my emotions, I thought, surely,
This time, this it it, this will be what will completely destroy me. But God!
I Thank God, I wasn't destroyed, I was only cast down, for a short season of time.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9. KJV
8. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9. Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down but not destroyed.

I realize and see clearly what the term "Hurt people, Hurt people" truly means.
Broken hearted people are really, hurt and broken!
They are searching for something, someone, anything, or anyone that can help to ease them and heal their pain.

"How Can You Mend A Broken Heart?"
The answer is JESUS.
There is HOPE! HE IS HOPE! HE is the ONE, who can fix it!  HE knows just what to do. HE can mend a broken heart.
Things that are broken, can be put back together again.
Even a heart!

Just like a bone that has been broken,  when it is set back into place, it takes a period of time, to stay in the cast. But, after it is mended and completely healed, the cast is removed and the bone is stronger. STRONGER than before!

Life is hard but God is Good!

We must pick up all of the broken pieces of our lives and bring them all and give them all, to Jesus!

GIVE THEM ALL. GIVE THEM ALL. GIVE THEM ALL TO JESUS.
SHATTERED DREAM, WOUNDED HEARTS ...BROKEN TOYS
GIVE THEM ALL, GIVE THEM ALL TO JESUS. AND HE WILL TURN YOUR SORROW INTO JOY!

He is standing with HIS arm extended, HIS HEALING HANDS are motioning for us to come to HIM. HE is waiting for us to come to HIM. We must trust HIM completely and allow HIM to touch us with HIS LOVE, and HIS COMPASSION.
If you are broken hearted today, then pick up your heart, pick up your heart, and carry it to healing hands!

Don't continue to walk in your past circumstances nor allow those piercing words that have been spoken about you or to you, don't allow them to keep you bound in their chains. They have already held you far too long. Let them go!

Today, you may be that wounded soldier. But, I hear Holy Spirit speaking. HE is saying, you have the strength to get up. Get up and keep marching on.

Remember,
What has been done to you, can cause you to become bitter or better!
I choose better! How about you?

Psalm 147:3 KJV
HE HEALETH THE BROKEN IN HEART, and BINDETH UP THEIR WOUNDS.

Psalm147:3 NLT
HE HEALS THE BROKEN HEARTED, AND BANDAGES THEIR WOUNDS.

Ezekiel 11:19. KJV
And I WILL give them one heart, and I WILL put a NEW SPIRIT within you; and I WILL take the STONY HEART out of their flesh, and I WILL GIVE them an HEART OF FLESH.
